Earning your Master of Mechanical Engineering degree couples academics and research, so you can broaden and deepen your engineering understanding. With your master's degree, you are prepared to climb the job ladder faster, as well as pursue your doctorate and a career in research.

A master of engineering degree demonstrates to your employer that you're smart, you can tackle complex problems, you're versatile, and you're not afraid of hard work. You'll have access to faculty, their research, and their expertise, so you have guidance to complete your thesis or independent study in a number of specialized areas.

Our graduate students pursuing a thesis must complete a research-based master's thesis. We encourage you to connect with faculty who have ongoing research programs so you can find a topic that fits you and your thesis advisor. While some of our graduate students are supported on teaching assistantships, many others are supported as research assistants funded by grants and contracts.

This program prepares its students for licensure or certification within the state of Louisiana. Please visit the list of licensure programs for important information if you plan to move out of state.
