About Us

Here in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, our students learn the foundational and modern engineering skills needed to gain prominent engineering positions in their industries, as well as the skills needed to pursue masters or doctoral degrees.

The mission of our department is to provide quality education and meaningful career opportunities for mechanical engineering graduates of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. We are accredited by  the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, which means, as a student, you have access to enhanced opportunities in employment, mobility, and making a positive impact on society.

We have over 800 students currently enrolled in our undergraduate and graduate programs. Our faculty and staff work to facilitate relevant research and development activities for economic and professional development. We provide services to the College of Engineering, the University, and the community in which this University resides.
